My favourite images of Hawke's Bay, New Zealand

Blessed with fertile soils and a warm temperate climate, Hawke's Bay is known for its sun, wine and food. It is also home to beautiful scenery and nature, and provides plenty of opportunities for landscape photographers.

Living in Havelock North, I have called Hawke's Bay home for over 15 years and below are some of my favourite locations and photos.

Living 10 minutes away from the top of Te Mata Peak, I come here often. There’s nothing better than a sunrise from the summit to start the day. The main, structural elements of the view from the peak are always the same. However, the time of day, the season and atmospheric conditions always make it a unique experience. It’s an ever-changing constant.

There’s more to Te Mata Peak than the grand view towards the bay. Looking in the opposite direction or walking the tracks in Te Mata Park provides quite a few photo opportunities as well.

There is an abundance of photogenic trees in Hawke’s Bay. Whether you are on top of Te Mata Peak, at the lake side, in the country, or on a road, there is often a tree, or a group of trees nearby that are a great subject for photography.
