Hawke’s Bay: Trees in Foggy Hills

My favourite images of misty trees under Te Mata Peak’s shadow

The following images were taken on misty mornings while looking down onto the trees in the valley below Te Mata Peak. As a photographer, I cherish these mornings: gazing out over the Tukituki Valley, the fog flowing and shifting like a living entity, moving gracefully through the hills and valleys. Sometimes, the fog parts briefly, revealing glimpses of the landscape below. Trees emerge like ghostly apparitions, their forms appearing and disappearing in the mist. The contrast between the sharp, dark silhouettes of the trees and the soft, white fog in combination with the rising sun enables striking visual compositions with a dash of mystery.
